摘要: While the responses of Tien Shan glaciers – and elsewhere to climatic changes are becoming increasingly well understood, this is less case for permafrost in general rock particular. We use a novel approach describe climate sensitivity reconstruct periods high low glacier activity since 1895. Using more than 1500 growth anomalies from 280 trees growing on bodies, repeat aerial photography Soviet archives high-resolution satellite imagery, we present here world's longest record movements. also demonstrate that exhibit synchronous at decadal timescales. Despite complex energy-balance processes glaciers, enhanced coincide with warm summers, annual mass balance Tuyuksu fluctuates asynchronously activity. At multi-decadal timescales, however, investigated site-specific trends reflecting different stages inactivation, seemingly response strong increase air temperature 1970s.
