摘要: Premise of the study Yucca species are ideal candidates for coevolution due to obligate mutualism they form with yucca moth pollinators (genera Tegeticula and Parategeticula). Yuccas not only exhibit a moths; genus Hesperoyucca is pollinated by California (Tegeticula maculata). Relationships among yuccas, Hesperoyucca, other members subfamily Agavoideae necessary understand evolution this unique pollination syndrome. Here, we investigate evolutionary relationships yuccas closely related genera looking at timing origin pollination. Methods In study, sequenced chloroplast genomes 20 in (Asparagaceae) three confamilial outgroup taxa resolve intergeneric phylogenetic Agavoideae. We estimated divergence times using protein-coding genes from 67 sampled across monocots determine origin. Key results confidently resolved Agavoideae, demonstrating yucca-yucca on two distinct lineages that diverged 27 million years ago. Comparisons time those moths Parategeticula, Prodoxidae) indicate overlapping ages pollinating behavior plant lineages. Conclusion Whereas have been shown single within Prodoxidae, there were independent acquisitions active leading
