摘要: Despite a number of limitations, stomach temperature recorders are still commonly used to determine feeding activity in free-ranging marine predators. In this regard, it is important improve the detection rate these systems by, for instance, in- creasing probability that cold prey touches sensors. present study, we compared rates and mass estimations water fish ingested by captive king penguins using two-point recorder (STL) single, but large, point (SICUP). Prey items were different masses (5-45 g) deliv- ered at frequencies (high vs. low). Ingestions recorded as precipitous drop followed an exponential rise (PDER). Overall, 57.9, 56.0 70.0% ingestions detected SICUP upper lower sensors STL, respectively. Our study confirmed employing two improves inges- tion, very small remains insufficient swal- lowed short intervals cumulative ingestion events. Nonetheless, to- tal food can be estimated with more than 70% confidence.
