摘要: An experimental study is made of the photoelectric emission from tantalum as it depends directly on accelerating electric field. Observations cover a range fields 0 to 90 kv/cm and illumination wavelengths 248 300 mμ. The results are in agreement with Fowler theory modified by Schottky lowering surface barrier. No evidence found for periodic deviation this regular behavior such exists its thermionic counterpart, but conditions may have been inadequate observation deviation. A new method threshold measurement at high described applied drawn filaments circular cross section. resulting value 4.16 ev freshly flashed specimens suggested that slightly greater than lowest work function present surface. determination same field yields 4.13 ev. influence nonuniformity dependence pho...
