摘要: Objective To explore the ability of an integrated health information infrastructure to support outcomes research. Methods A systematic review articles published from 1983 2012 by Regenstrief Institute investigators using data electronic record involving multiple provider organisations was performed. Articles were independently assessed and classified study design, disease other metadata including bibliometrics. Results A total 190 identified. Diseases included cognitive, (16) cardiovascular, infectious, (15) chronic illness (14) cancer (12). Publications grew steadily (26 in first decade vs. 100 last) as did number (from 15 62 2012). The proportion non-Regenstrief authors also expanded 54% 72% last decade. During this period, a single system into exchange network covering more than 6 million patients. Analysis journal article metrics reveals high impact for clinical trials comparative effectiveness research studies that utilised available infrastructure. Discussion Integrated infrastructures growth quality observational diverse collaboration consistent with goals learning system. More recent publications demonstrate growing external collaborations facilitated greater access improved opportunities broader outcomes. Conclusions Integrated can stimulate captured during routine care but require time reach full potential.
