Detection of equine herpesvirus 1 DNA in a single embryo and in horse semen by polymerase chain reaction

摘要: The genome of one equine embryo and three semen specimens collected from a Brazilian farm were tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the presence EHV-1 EHV-4-specific timidine kinase (TK) sequences. PCR detected specific TK gene sequences in all samples tested. peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) donor mare also was amplified primers. Infectious virus not recovered any specimens. animals did show clinical signal or EHV-4 infections. studied results indicate that more sensitive than isolation cell culture detecting carrier horses.
