摘要: A brief account is given about the distribution and cycle of phosphates in sea temperate tropical waters, recent investigations Indian waters being discussed some detail. The data on total phosphorus content along coast show that values for P are generally more than 3 times sometimes nearly 40 by Harvey Western English Channel. hypothesis presented which would explain observed cycles phosphate-phytoplankton relationships coastal to extent, particularly Malabar waters. While monsoon high caused release locked-up bottom, it suggested a continuous source replenishment essentially be presumed long duration simultaneous maxima both phytoplankton during monsoon. Three such sources indicated. post-monsoon ‘erratic’ fluctuations can explained as due somewhat cyclical repetition usual phenomena utilization, regeneration production, until low levels established subsequent pre-monsoon months.
