'We are the people whose opinions don't matter'. A photovoice study exploring challenges faced by community health workers in Uganda.

摘要: Understanding the experiences of community health workers (CHWs) through use participatory visual methods (PVMs) has been relatively underexplored. One such PVM is photovoice, which involves capture photographic images related to issues social importance. In this study, we explore challenges faced by eight CHWs in Mukono District, Uganda photovoice. Over a six-week period, captured 62 relevant photographs. Subsequent individual interviews and group discussions were held with regarding content Using traditional analysis, range themes perceived highlighted, including poor infrastructure, insufficient on-going training supervision, relationships other professionals equipment supplies. Suggestions raised as why existed how they could be addressed; mainly increased roles government supporting NGOs. Overall, photovoice was generally feasible method highlight CHWs, however acceptability image consent taking may prove challenging, given past historical experiences. The study highlighted need address multiple complex order help them fulfil their roles.
