摘要: Abstract The nonlinear stability of inviscid forced flow in a β-plane channel is investigated with barotropic model. equilibrium-forced whose considered results from the interaction constant westerly mean zonal over finite-amplitude orography. Fully integrations quasi-geostrophic vorticity equation, initialized equilibrium flows which are slightly disturbed by their fastest-growing linear disturbances, reveals possibility explosive instability. Along this period disturbance growth there exists an interesting vacillation arising periodic interference between forced. quasi-stationary wave on scale topography and free travelling (with same horizontal wavenumber).
