Rehabilitation of degraded forests to improve livelihoods of poor farmers in South China

摘要: Degradation of forests and forest lands is a problem in many parts the world particularly serious south China. Chinese policy reforms recent years have enabled rural households to generate income from forests, own trees they planted, offered new opportunities manage sustainably. Rehabilitation degraded one possible pathways improve livelihoods poor farmers others communities. This report documents results four case studies China which farmers, local officials ressearchers anlysed problems lands, formulated options for their solution. Opportunities management people's are dependent on overcoming range biophysical, socioeconomic political constraints. Action research was used implement test some identified. The experience analysis should be value researchers, resource managers government elsewhere address poverty environmental concerns through multidisciplinary, participatory holistic approach.
