摘要: SUMMARY. Prymnesium parvum, an ichthyotoxic phytoplankter, has been recorded, at times abundantly, in the River Thurne, Norfolk, and its associated Broads. Its occurrence apparently more frequent population sizes probably larger since late 1960s than previously fish mortalities due to it now occur almost annually. The Thurne system is brackish may have become so, exploitation by drainage pumps, of a saline water table, recent years. Evidence for this conflicting, but any case increase salinity unlikely made increased growth likely. Eutrophication some Broads most likely populations data are presented on present chemistry comparison with previous records, current phytoplankton crops different parts it. P. parvum isolated from as unialgal culture compared morphology, tolerance ichthyotoxicity strain P. Israel. The differs slightly size pigmentation, not tolerance. In produces ichthyotoxin Israeli strain.
