The impact of sport and physical activity on the well-being of combat veterans: A systematic review

摘要: Abstract Objectives This review examined the potential impact of sport and physical activity upon subjective psychological well-being combat veterans in aftermath or trauma. Design A systematic was conducted. The question guiding this ‘what is on veterans?’ Methods Key databases were searched for articles relating to use and/or supporting veterans. 11 studies identified as relevant inclusion. Data from these extracted by means a directed content analysis, results which reported narrative synthesis. Results Sport enhances through active coping doing things again, PTSD symptom reduction, positive affective experience, nature/ecotherapy, quality life. Impact includes determination inner strength, focus ability broadening horizons, identity self-concept, sense achievement/accomplishment, social well-being. Participating can also enhance motivation living. Conclusions advances knowledge producing synthesis evidence that highlights value rehabilitation disabled diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It develops identifying type sports activities used promote well-being, offering first definition literature, taking critical approach, highlighting under researched role nature-based activity.
