摘要: Large-scale networks of wireless sensors are becoming an active topic research. Advances in hardware technology and engineering design have led to dramatic reductions size, power consumption cost for digital circuitry, communications Micro ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS). This has enabled very compact, autonomous mobile nodes, each containing one or more sensors, computation communication capabilities, a supply. The missing ingredient is the networking applications layers needed harness this revolutionary capability into complete system. We review key elements emergent “Smart Dust” outline research challenges they present systems community, which must provide coherent connectivity large numbers network nodes co-located within small volume.
