摘要: Background Blood pressure (BP) control is far from optimal. Studies on factors influencing BP in the elderly are limited, yet identification of contributing to low rate a prerequisite improvement clinical management. Objective To evaluate and relationship between different characteristics treated hypertensive outpatients aged ≥65 years. Methods The PAPY-65 Survey was prospective cross-sectional survey conducted primary care Belgium 2007. Participating primary-care physicians were required include consecutive patients years with antihypertensive drugs. Demographic anthropometric data as well cardiovascular risk history obtained. measured accordance European Society Hypertension/European Cardiology guidelines. Results mean±standard deviation (SD) age 1272 enrolled 75±7 years; 702 (55%) women. mean±SD systolic/diastolic 134/79±13/8 mmHg. normalized (reduced <140/90mmHg, or <130/80 mmHg diabetes mellitus) 617 (48.5%) overall 88 (24%) (n= 371). majority (921; 72%) two more Both general obesity (body mass index ≥30 vs <25 kg/m2) abdominal associated lack (unadjusted odds ratio [OR] 2.988, 95% CI 2.200, 4.057 OR 2.066, 1.649, 2.588, respectively). Abdominal no longer related when adjusted for presence diabetes. Diabetes strongly only stringent definition (<130/80 mmHg) used. combined subclinical organ damage disease less uncontrolled (OR 0.62, 0.48, 0.80). Conclusion Compared previous Belgium, clear observed, probably use agents. diabetes, excess bodyweight all poor control.
