摘要: The records of 13 patients with symptomatic rectal obstruction secondary to prostatic carcinoma have been critically reviewed provide criteria for identifying this atypical presentation. site varied from the anal verge 17 cm by sigmoidoscopy. Significant clinical findings were ureteral on excretory urography in 12 patients, elevated acid phosphatase eight, intact mucosa over obstructing mass seven and osteoblastic bone metastasis six. Primary diagnosis was generally established comparing histopathologically prostate lesion. Colostomy necessary nine cases. In three colostomy obviated partially lesions intravenous diethylstilbestrol diphosphate therapy. One patient had an inappropriate low anterior resection. Rectal is most commonly due primary adenocarcinoma. Occasionally masquerading as intrinsic cancer. Identification true nature illness essential proper treatment.
