摘要: The population of older adults is heterogeneous and can be divided into many subgroups: the young-old, old-old, healthy, sick, frail, mentally physically handicapped, ambulatory, chair-bound, house-bound or institution-bound, economically advantaged disadvantaged. This diversity extremely important to discussion oral health needs, preventive strategies, research agenda for elderly. As life expectancy increases, more attention being paid disease prevention so that quality in old age improved. However, link among health, systemic disease, elderly needs better-defined. There some evidence literature indicates coronal root caries appear major problems corroborated longitudinal studies. Although periodontal prevalence severity are high subgroups elderly, these decline general population. Dental health-care workers must cognizant conditions associated with use medication, a concern adults. Prevention requires early intervention, education dental team, innovative uses well-established agents such as fluoride. An extensive effort needed answer basic applied questions regarding Federal private funding will necessary. profession have demonstrate persuasive money spent on care well spent.
