摘要: Fat deposits are effective indicators of the nutritional status wild populations ungulates. Three fat indices (kidney fat, femur marrow and mandible fat) sika deer (Cervus nippon) at Mount Goyo, northern Japan, were compared. The kidney index (KFI) was suitable for good intermediate status, but could not precisely reflect poor conditions. Bone (MFI) because samples with high MFI values did distinguish between whose KFI different, collected in non-winter seasons cover range It is therefore recommended to use both femur-MFI complementarily.
