摘要: Because domestication rarely leads to speciation, domesticated populations often hybridize with wild relatives when they occur in close proximity. Little work has focused on this question clonally propagated crops. If selection the capacity for sexual reproduction been relaxed, these crops would not be expected their as frequently seed-propagated Cassava is one of most important plants tropical agriculture. Gene flow between cassava and postulated, but never demonstrated nature. We studied a population Manihot sp. French Guiana, which was recently contact cassava, characterized phenotypes (10 morphological traits) genotypes (six microsatellite loci) individuals transect parallel direction hypothesized gene flow. Wild were strongly differentiated at loci. identified many hybrids forming continuum two populations, phenotypic variation correlated degree hybridization determined by molecular markers. Analysis linkage disequilibrium diversity hybrid pedigrees showed that gone least three generations no strong barrier prevents admixture populations. Hybrids more heterozygous than either or individuals, comparisons suggested heterosis vegetative traits. Our results also suggest situation uncommon, demonstrate need integrated management even
