摘要: Objective Axis V, which uses the Global Assessment of Functioning Scale in multiaxial system DSM-III-R, is under review for DSM-IV. This article examines what known about axis V and selectively reviews literature on measures social functioning to identify potential alternatives Scale. Method About 25 studies use, reliability, validity DSM-III DSM-III-R are reviewed. In addition, nearly 30 reviewed analyzed as substitutes The analysis focuses strengths weaknesses each measure assessing V. Results modestly reliable valid but not widely used. authors discuss two particular limitations Scale: 1) combination symptoms a single 2) exclusion physical impairments from rating functioning.
