摘要: Recurrent respiratory papillomas are premalignant tumors of the airway caused by human papillomaviruses (HPVs), primarily Types 6 and 11. We had reported that overexpress epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), small GTPase Rac1 cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), have enhanced nuclear factor-kappaB (NFkappaB) activation with decreased levels IkappaB-beta but not IkappaB-alpha. also showed EGFR-activated mediates expression COX-2 through p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase. now asked whether p21-activated kinases Pak1 or Pak2 mediate in papilloma cells. were constitutively activated vivo tissue compared normal epithelium, siRNA reduced level both phospho-Pak1 phospho-Pak2 cultured Reduction cells, increased localization NF-kappaB, no effect on phosphorylation. Our studies suggest --> Pak1/Pak2 NFkappaB is a separate pathway contributes to HPV-induced papillomas, independently previously described pathway.
