摘要: Abstract Upon conclusion of the 30 years civil conflict, Sri Lanka has entered into a new era development. The beautification project Colombo, Lanka's commercial capital, can be considered as one most important projects among urban planning and restoration endeavours implemented throughout island. In such development endeavour, green spaces play crucial role in improving environmental quality standard living residents. objective this study is to analyse Colombo city based on provide appropriate recommendations raise international standards. study, space areas were extracted from Thailand Earth Observation System (THEOS) satellite imagery using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Extracted further analysed quantitatively with air indicators population density utilizing deductive indexing method at Grama Niladhari (GN) administrative division level identify correlations these factors. An criticality map percentage been constructed high criticality. revealed that 24% entire Municipal Council (CMC) area consists spaces. This also 34 GN divisions out 55 lack minimum per capita recommended by World Health Organization for healthy living. Recommendations are presented regarding regions where should established enhance up
