Prevalence of cutaneous pathological conditions and factors associated with the presence of skin wounds in working equids in tropical regions of Veracruz, Mexico

摘要: A wide spectrum of welfare issues is encountered on working equids. The objectives this study were: (i) to determine the prevalence cutaneous lesions in equids tropical regions North-Central Veracruz State, Mexico, (ii) identify most prevalent pathological conditions population equids, and (iii) risk factors associated presence work-related skin wounds. number 467 presented for treatment at Donkey Sanctuary Mobile Clinic Program - National Autonomous University Mexico from seven different villages region State were evaluated. Animals with signs pathology underwent a physical examination samples obtained exudates, hair, tissue cytology examination, fungal cultures, dermo-histopathology examination. overall was 20.6 %. per species 22.6 % horses, 18.2 donkeys, 14.3 mules. common cause trauma (abrasions, lacerations, abscesses) followed frequency by parasitic dermatitis sarcoids. No strong associations among observed (P > 0.20). Multivariate analysis showed that there greater association between BCS age wounds < 0.05). Equids who's rated as “moderate” well adult animals significantly more compared young elderly These findings can help develop better management practices improve Veracruz, Mexico.
