摘要: Successful management of acute ischemic stroke is dependent on early referral for thrombolysis. We explored the key motivational factors affecting sufferers and bystanders their cognitive behavioral responses, especially those that would affect prompt stroke. This study comprised a structured interview survey patients admitted to unit in an area where thrombolysis had not yet been introduced. Outcome measures (eg, knowledge stroke, health beliefs, self-efficacy, self-care responses) were recorded. Only 41% correctly assessed symptoms be stroke; 44% perceived mild; 59% wait see whether improve spontaneously. About 61% 80% worried about troubling other people with problem. The bystander was relative 68% cases. Of bystanders, 65% as only 42% patient's severe. 25% took passive approach improved spontaneously; 93% did find it difficult ask assistance. To promote hospital, educational strategies must address public's information base seek processes involved so overcome barriers action. Effective treatment emphasized.
