摘要: Summary Objective While the vocal fold is in direct contact anteriorly with thyroid cartilage, posteriorly connects to cartilage through a soft tissue layer paraglottic space. Currently space often neglected computational models of phonation, which fixed boundary condition imposed on lateral surface fold. The goal this study was investigate effect voice production an MRI-based model, and how may be counteracted by stiffening due laryngeal muscle activation. Methods Parametric simulation using model. Results results showed that presence increased mean amplitude glottal area waveform, decreased phonation frequency closed quotient. For particular geometry used study, also reduced occurrence irregular vibration. These effects became smaller increasing stiffness lesser degree stiffening. Conclusions suggest qualitative evaluations normal but needs included simulations pathological or posturing.
