摘要: As software overheads decrease and processor speeds increase relative to network speeds, the performance of multiprocessor interconnection networks will become increasingly important. This motivates design efficient switching routing schemes. Wormhole is an technique wherein messages are pipelined through network. Networks employing wormhole (termed "wormhole networks") currently very popular as they yield low latency have minimal buffer requirements. thesis primarily concerned with reliability aspects networks. The main goal this identify how can be done effectively in these networks. Two concepts that been proposed for improvements "Virtual Channel Flow Control" (VCFC) "adaptive routing". In VCFC concept multiple virtual channels (logical channels) share same physical channel employed "lanes" complete freedom choice among them. Many new adaptive schemes also recent times which allow next hop taken by a message determined "on fly" based on local conditions at each router. These shown improve certain traffic patterns time perform badly other patterns. This begins investigating question whether made uniformly well all proper combination VCFC. It although both techniques not entirely satisfactory isolation, provide substantial benefit. Even if good performance, limited fact only investigates extent nature decisions affect explores scope further improvement. A practical source-directed method uses application-specific knowledge potential approach achieve improvements.
