摘要: Abstract We study the magnetization reversal and position dependence of spin-dependent electronic properties nm small bilayer Co islands on Cu(1 1 1) by spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy in magnetic fields at low temperatures 8 K. The analysis energy barrier from measurements switching field suggests a crossover mode with increasing island size around 7500 atoms exchange-spring behavior to domain wall formation. quantitative indicates an inhomogeneous anisotropy island. rim is magnetically soft, whereas center shows pronounced effective 0.148 meV/atom. speculate that this inhomogeneity might be consequence spatial properties. measure spin-polarization tunnel magneto resistance ratio opposite sign as compared center.
