TOBI, a vehicle for deep ocean survey

摘要: TOBI is an instrumented vehicle which towed close to the bottom of deep ocean from a ship, and uses sound form detailed images sea floor. The authors describe mechanical design this its instrument package. way in sonar are formed discussed acoustic parameters considered. Signals frequency multiplexed on 10 km armoured coaxial towing cable, also provides power two-way communication link. At ship these signals separated, displayed logged onto magneto-optical cartridges. Examples results shown some future developments identified.
