摘要: Publisher Summary The chapter focuses on the physiology of Halobacteriaceae. Extremely halophilic bacteria contain characteristic lipids having ether-linked alkyl groups instead normal ester-bound fatty acids. chemistry, metabolism, and function these unusual have been thoroughly reviewed in this chapter. All work enzymes thus far indicates that mechanisms underlying activity regulation are similar to those operate with non-halophilic enzymes. Further insights into features importance permitting “normal” abnormally saline environments will probably necessitate isolation pure enzyme preparations, both for studying stoicheiometrically various enzyme-salt interactions determining hydrophobicity acidity parameters based amino-acid analysis. Halophilic bacteria, their enzymes, organelles, uniquely well suited a study general biological phenomena such as electron transport or molecules across membranes. Smaller bodies water, pools, flats along seashore, where seawater has concentrated by evaporation, much more transiently highly environments. It reported extremely can be isolated directly enrichment from sources. is facile assume all reports extreme halophiles sources temporarily low salt concentrations result faulty sterile techniques.
