摘要: This article reviews cellular energy transformation processes and neurochemical events that take place at the time of brain injury shortly thereafter, emphasizing hypoxia-ischemia, cerebrovascular accident, traumatic injury. New interpretations established concepts, such as diffuse axonal injury, are discussed; specific events, free radical production, excess production excitatory amino acids, disruption calcium homeostasis, reviewed. Neurochemically-based interventions also presented: channel blockers, acid antagonists, scavengers, hypothermia treatment. Concluding remarks focus on role clinical neuropsychologists in validation treatment interventions.
