Sediment transport along lower Fraser River: 1. Measurements and hydraulic computations

摘要: A comprehensive program of sediment transport measurements was conducted along lower Fraser River, British Columbia, between 1966 and 1986. The data yield a detailed budget. Annual total suspended loads at three stations are virtually identical, averaging 17 × 106 tonnes/year (t yr−1). sand load is about 5.5 t yr−1, one third the total. In gravel bed reach river behaves as wash load. Significant begins Agassiz discharge 5000 m3 s−1. annual estimated to be 0.23 only 1% All this material deposited in upstream Mission. At Mission, sands finer than 0.177 mm make up more 50% but absent from bed. Therefore portion Mission here 3.0 18% Virtually all transported intermittent suspension near bed, less 5% occurring long term approximately equal However, within individual years some stored temporarily then reentrained later.
