摘要: Journalism’s encounter with the Internet has engendered a multi-layered debate concerning place of established news media and its practitioners in public communication. The affordances re-animate familiar themes discussions journalism, not least power relations, gate-keeping objectivity claims. In many popular some academic analyses, so-called ‘traditional’ journalism is under examination because economic forces driving development digital networked media, but also univocal nature older its enclosed culture, considered at odds potential reconstituted sphere founded open, interactive system emerging spaces. This study, related to wider European research project, investigates intermeshing Irish journalism’s professional output, practices normative values, as materialized online as expressed opinions attitudes practising journalists expert respondents, potentialities Internet. Where much discourse date framed narrative progress or, similarly, posits timeline maturing from outputs constructivist investigation work processes, this study seeks find commonalities between print, evolving information ecology, critically examine claims advancement.
