摘要: Propagating bands of localized deformation, such as Lueders and Portevin-Le Chatelier occur in virtually all alloys when deformed within certain regimes temperature strain rate. Such have attracted the attention both theorists experimentalists over several decades. Early theoretical studies were concerned with phenomenological treatments involving cause instability microscopic models dislocation processes involved. More recently has been focused on stability criteria spatial aspects band propagation. In view renewed interest propagative instabilities it is important that fundamental experimental features propagation be well characterized understood. this paper authors review measurements deformation bands, particular emphasis geometrical associated effect. They also report new Portevein-Le an Al-Mg-Si alloy.
