摘要: Denial and minimization in self-reports of cigarette smoking are probable common among youth other groups where is discouraged. Chemical measures may obtain more accurate measurement habits those groups. One such measure, saliva thiocyanate (SCN), was evaluated 1,419 eighth grade students. In that group, 54.9% students admitted to regular greater than one pack/week had thiocyanates or equal 100 m g/ml compared 2.3% nonsmokers at levels. Of who smoked 10 cigarettes the prior 24 hours, 66.7% were above microgram/ml. Elevated SCN uncommon. Saliva a safe, inexpensive, acceptable prevalence for smoking. It can be used place document on populations youth.
