Development of the Addiction Research Center Inventory (ARCI): Selection of items that are sensitive to the effects of various drugs

摘要: A “custom-built” inventory for assessing subjective effects of drugs, the Addiction Research Center Inventory (ARCI), was developed from use “sentence completion” and other association techniques on male subjects under drug no-drug conditions. In addition to demonstrated “drug-sentitive” questions, final form (550 “true-false” items) also contains items which may delineate some extent schizoid “psychopathic” characteristics. The format is similar that MMPI content has a fairly wide range. Initial indicates effective in differentiating various drugs discriminating similarities differences naturally occurring experimentally induced behavioral abnormalities. Results indicate effectiveness specially designed tests, whether complete sentences or adjective check lists, chiefly depends upon assessment “activitysedation” continuum allied changes motivation, alterations mood such as “euphoria-dysphoric” continuum, sensation perception, reportable physiological processes.
