A geo-environmental map for the sustainable development of the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal

摘要: An engineering and environmental geological map of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal has been elaborated within a project German-Nepalese cooperation. In Valley, major geo-environmental problems arise from haphazard exploitation geologic resources, local landslide zones, severe garbage disposal, river flooding dramatic pollution. The was prepared by use GIS techniques. It contains all basic data, as geotechnical risk zones (landslide-prone areas or those poor foundation conditions), for preferable extraction construction material not to be allowed exploited, immediate need reforestation order prevent badland development, groundwater protection suitable disposal sites.
