Clinical features of Pneumocystis pneumonia in the acquired immune deficiency syndrome.

摘要: The courses of 19 patients with Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia complicating the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) were reviewed. Compared previous reviews in without AIDS, AIDS often has a more prolonged clinical prodrome, pulmonary symptoms occurring for an average 3 wk prior to presentation, and slower response therapy, radiographic blood gas improvement 13 6 days, respectively, after initiation therapy. No patient diagnosed during life died as result infection; however, 5 required repeat 7 lung biopsies course treatment. Serious side effects trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole therapy included fever, rash, leukopenia, occurred 12 patients. Aggressive diagnostic therapeutic measures combined are satisfactory outcome pneumonia.
