摘要: Abstract Seagrasses are of direct importance in sustaining the integrity and complex nature Southeast Asian coasts. Multiple stressors, however, cause their declines at scales square meters to kilometers. More often, these caused by human activity because ecosystems adjacent areas increasing industrialization. The major driver this activity, turn, is big gap or disconnect between seagrass science, policy practice. But while urgent need for scientific research inform practice directly well recognized, out 1122 articles on published from 1973 2016 region (including China), 77% dealt with management only 23% science. This status is, changing slowly favor more conservation oriented application available science addressing pressing issues. a focused regional effort speed up pace address gap, sustain ecosystem services face coastal environmental uncertainties rapidly developing Asia. should be functionally coordinated, starting increased awareness conserve seagrass, monitoring changes ecosystem, managing users. challenge designing effective policies Asia rendered even promote three preconditions stronger science-policy-practice linkage. First, has relevant. Second, that considered relevant third, policy-making open receptive advice public scrutiny. A new truly coordinated functional program needed aimed at: (a) establishing principles which can protected maintained future. (b) regulating practices, result destruction seagrasses. (c) maintaining enhancing ecosystems, (d) promoting interconnections other as basis stakeholder integration cohesion. social ‘crisis’ forcing governments increase protection, adaptive monitoring.
