摘要: Even though Sfax salina in Tunisia hosts a significant part of the Mediterranean population Pied Avocet Recurvirostra avosetta , data on breeding ecology this species area are lacking. Such nonetheless necessary, not only for understanding and dynamics general, but also conservation purposes. In paper we use results one-year monitoring nests to provide information its nesting parameters, particular phenology, colony size hatching success. Our show that Avocets formed dense colonies at beginning season, decreased  as season advanced. Clutch varied between 1 7 eggs, similar other European populations. Hatching success, estimated by Mayfield method, was relatively low, mainly due predation stray dogs. Overall, our work shows high nest losses occur here. It highlights need management efforts aiming enhance reproductive success artificial habitat. Creation suitable safe sites is proposed. OSTRICH 2011, 82 (1): 11–16
