摘要: In-situ and postmortem observations of the dynamic tensile failure damage evolution high-density polyethylene (HDPE) are made during Dynamic-Tensile-Extrusion (Dyn-Ten-Ext) loading. The Dyn-Ten-Ext technique probes response materials at large strains (>1) high strain-rates (>105 s−1) by firing projectiles through a conical die. Postmortem sectioning elucidates mechanism internal inception progression. X-ray computed tomography corroborates shear with cracks nearly aligned extrusion axis but separated unfailed bridges material. measurements impact system for ultrafast synchrotron experiments (IMPULSE) using advanced imaging methods available Advanced Photon Source. Multiple frame phase-contrast (PCI) features in HDPE loading that is observed tomography.
