摘要: Background: The first 20 years of publication Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention occurred during a period increased attention to health disparities and advances in knowledge about their determinants. Yet, despite clear documentation advanced understanding determinants, we have made little headway reducing at the population level. Multilevel models, such as one produced by Centers for Population Health Disparities (CPHHD), hold promise complex determinants cancer interactions well translating scientific discoveries into solutions. CPHHD model maps across range disciplines, from biological social, each with its own disciplinary language methods. ability work effectively boundaries is essential framing comprehensive solutions. Methods: After briefly characterizing current state disparities, outline three major challenges faced researchers practitioners offer suggestions addressing these challenges. Results: These are how consider race ethnicity research, best translate public solutions create research environment that supports successful execution multilevel research. Conclusions: Attention all outlined above urgently needed advance our efforts eliminate disparities. Impact: Addressing will help future. Epidemiol Prev; 20(9); 1809–14. ©2011 AACR .
