摘要: It has been traditional to interpret the strength of ceramics in terms mean grain size. This paper investigates, critically, use vs size{sup {minus}1/2} plots and shows them be inconsistent with fracture mechanisms theory. is suggested that plotted against maximum interpreted by means known mechanics criteria. A model presented based on Griffith criterion which takes into account processing defects effect large grains explains experimental results.
