摘要: Ehrlichiosis is a term that has been used to describe infection with any of number related intracellular, vector-borne pathogens. A recent reclassification resulted in the transfer several species previously known as Ehrlichia genus Anaplasma or Neorickettsia. and are transmitted largely through bite infected ticks, while vectors for Neorickettsia include trematodes intermediate hosts (i.e., fish, snails, insects) involved trematode life cycle. Dogs (and cats) susceptible these pathogens, veterinarians should be aware similarities differences between E canis infections. Pets suggestive clinical signs laboratory abnormalities may started on doxycycline pending specific diagnostic testing. The veterinarian practicing endemic areas must understand implications limitations serologic molecular testing confirm diagnosis. For animals areas, prevention exposure can lessen risk disease pets might potential become carriers their human companions.
