Isolation and characterization of a novel gene of the DEAD box protein family which is specifically expressed in germ cells of Xenopus laevis.

摘要: We have isolated a cDNA of the DEAD protein family from Xenopus ovary library. Northern hybridization revealed that mRNA corresponding to [XVLG1 (Xenopus vasa-like gene)] was specifically expressed in adult testis and ovary. The deduced amino acid sequence XVLG1 relatively homologous Drosophila vasa. found be exclusively by immunoblotting with monoclonal antibody against protein. Immunocytological study showed oogonia, oocytes, spermatogonia, spermatocytes, also primordial germ cells stage 46 tadpoles. used this stains line is useful both as cell lineage marker biochemical studies cells.
