摘要: The amygdala is a key brain area regulating responses to stress and emotional stimuli, so improving our understanding of how it regulated could offer novel strategies for treating disturbances in emotion regulation. As we review here, growing body evidence indicates that the gut microbiota may contribute range amygdala-dependent functions from pain sensitivity social behavior, regulation, therefore, psychiatric health. In addition, appears necessary normal development at both structural functional levels. While further investigations are needed elucidate exact mechanisms microbiota-to-amygdala communication, ultimately, this work raises intriguing possibility become viable treatment target disorders associated with dysregulation, including visceral pain, post-traumatic disorder, beyond.
