摘要: This article uses ethnographic material collected around Lake Mutirikwi in southern Zimbabwe, to explore how the affective presence of graves and ruins, which materialize past present occupations engagements with/in landscape (by different clans, colonial postcolonial state institutions, war veterans, chiefs, spirit mediums, as well white commercial farmers), are entangled complex, localized contests over autochthony belonging, even they finely implicated wider reconfigurations authority state-craft. Situating these highly contested assertions, discourses, practices context national redefinitions citizenship belonging articulated by ZANU PF's rhetoric ‘patriotic history’, this explores made real through consequential materiality milieu.
