End of life ethical issues in patients with end - stage renal disease

摘要: The ethical dilemma of decision-making at the end life ESRD patient raise important for nephrologists. Although dialysis and renal transplantation represent successful treatment ESRD, there are still patients whose clinical features problem if initiation or continuation is an adequate approach. This a literature review analysing aspects adult suffering from in their final stage. MEDLINE database was searched representative articles using following keywords: „withholding withdrawal issues”. As basic principle, all pacient should have opportunity to benefit dialysis. Although, terminal illness, withholding could mean refuse treatments that only postpone imminent death. Yet, this approach has risk be misinterpreted as euthanasia. That’s why counseling, information, timely health care decision making real necessities. Advance directives nephrology regarding specific death contribute “good death” prevent problems.
