Citation Analysis: A Comparison of Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science

摘要: When faculty members are evaluated, they judged in part by the impact and quality of their scholarly publications. While all academic institutions look to publication counts venues as well subjective opinions peers, many hiring, tenure, promotion committees also rely on citation analysis obtain a more objective assessment an author’s work. Consequently, try identify citations published works possible provide comprehensive professional communities. The Institute for Scientific Information’s (ISI) databases, which widely used starting point if not only source locating citations, have several limitations that may leave gaps coverage This paper presents case study comparing found Scopus Google Scholar with those Web Science (the portal search three ISI databases) items two Library Information full-time members. In addition, brief overview prototype system called CiteSearch, analyzes combined data from multiple databases produce citation-based evaluation measures.
