Welfare reforms and child well-being in the US and UK

摘要: This paper examines the effects of recent welfare reforms in US and UK on well-being children low-income families, looking specifically at poverty, family expenditures, child health development. The finds some commonalities but also notable differences. Common to both countries is a sizable reduction although poverty has been less, families appear have left behind. Expenditure data point divergence across two countries. In UK, affected by are spending more money items related likely own car phone, while US, primarily employment not for children.
