摘要: Thomson scattering of laser light is one the most fundamental diagnostics plasma density, temperature and magnetic fields. It relies on assumption that properties in probed volume are homogeneous constant during probing time. On other hand, laboratory plasmas seldom uniform temporal spatial dimensions over which data collected. This partic- ularly true for laser-produced high-energy-density matter, often exhibits steep gradients temperature, density pressure, a scale determined by focus. Here, we discuss modification cross section fully-ionized media exhibiting inhomogeneities and/or fast fluctuations. We show predicted spectra greatly altered compared to case, may even lead violations detailed balance. Therefore, careful interpretation necessary spatially or temporally inhomogeneous systems.
