Epidural versus intramuscular fentanyl. Analgesia and pharmacokinetics in labour.

摘要: Summary In a randomised double blind trial, 36 patients in the first stage of labour received either epidural or intramuscular fentanyl at same time as test dose bupivacaine. Analgesia was more rapid onset and complete group. Supplementary doses bupivacaine were required within hour 62% group compared with only 16% Plasma concentrations showed wide interindividual variation, but after peak occurred earlier. There no correlation between analgesia plasma concentration, produced superior systemic contribution to this effect cannot be ruled out.
